Help Save Your Marrige By Quitting Smoking
If you’re a non-smoker living with a smoker, it can be very difficult. It will undoubtedly cause a lot of problems in your marriage. Most non-smokers find the smell of cigarettes disgusting.
You likely wont feel like kissing your spouse very much after they’ve had a cigarette. This can make intimacy a bit harder. The clothes and hair will also be noticeably smelly.
Your spouse’s smoking habit can lead to health problems. You don’t want your partner to develop serious health concerns since you love him or her. You may also be concerned about your health too, since second-hand smoke can be hazardous.
It’s important that you voice your concerns to your partner if you want them to quit. Don’t make the mistake of trying to force your mate to quit however. No one can quit smoking at the drop of a dime, so you’ll need to be patient if they do decide to quit.
One good idea that you can try is suggesting an exercise program. Exercising is a great way to relieve stress. One of the best benefits of exercise is that it helps negate the need to light up a cigarette. Obviously, exercising will also have other positive health benefits too.
Another thing you can suggest to your partner is to slowly cut back on the number of cigarettes smoked each day. Smoking only five or ten is a great start if they normally smoke 15 a day. You could even offer to hold on to his or her pack and dish them out as necessary. This will certainly help lower the number of cigarettes smoked on a daily basis.
Often, it’s best that you or your spouse seek support from somewhere in order to quit. Friends or close family members should be able to provide all of the support that you need.
It’s important that you don’t use aggressive pressure tactics to try to force change in your partner. You can certainly make your concerns known, but don’t try to force things since it will only cause an argument. If you can’t work out a solution, then talking to a marriage counselor is a good first step.Doc No.lkhjsdklsd-ssj
